worked for the Maine Central Railroad for 40 years and retired in 1964 He was also a deputy sheriff for both Penobscot and Aroostook Counties and was former tax collector here having served for 22 years and was also a former select-mad Burke was active in Masonic circles being a past master of the' Mattawamkeag Masonic Lodge a past Ugh priest of the Mt Horeb Chapter and was a member of the Bangor Council St Commandery all the Scottish Rite bodies the Maine Consistory Anah Temple Shrine Red Cross of Constantine He was also a past patron of the Mattawamkeag OES and was a member of the Maine Council Order of High Priesthood and was past grand king of the Grand Chapter of the State of Maine and was assistant to the potentate of Anah Temple Shrine He was a 32nd degree Mason Surviving (Whiton) Foster She attended Hingham schools and graduated from Simmons College She was co-founder of the Hingham Club and was active in the Hingham Unitarian Church Mrs Jacobs was a member of the First Universalist Church of Dexter and the Ladies Aid of the church She was also a member of the Dexter Literary Club She had lived in Bethel for about seven years before moving to Dexter in 1966 to Swanville Health Council is sponsoring-a dental clinic beginning June 3 for school and pre-school age children A dental hygienist from the state department of health and welfare will be at the communi-ty house during the week of June 3 She will examine clean and apply floride to the teeth of children in selected grades in the school and to some preschool children A spokesman for the clinic said this program is recom mended by dentists and is a proven way to reduce new cavaties by about one third Parents of pre-school children three-and-one-half to four years may get information by
