In recent sustainability news, The European Parliament has set new laws in place that will limit and ban plastic packaging over time. "Take-away food and drink outlets will have to allow customers to use their own containers from 2030, while being encouraged to offer at least 10% of their sales in reusable cartons or cups. Before that date, 90% of plastic bottles and drinks cans will have to be collected separately, by deposit-return schemes unless other systems are in place."This is an exciting step towards limiting the amount of global packaging waste, considering the current average for each European citizen annually is 190 kg!#zerowaste #reduceplasticwaste

🌟 Exciting things happening in renewable energy! Vattenfall and BASF have teamed up, with BASF buying 49% of Vattenfall's Nordlicht 1 and 2 wind farms. These wind farms, in the German North Sea, will be Vattenfall's biggest offshore project yet, generating a massive 1.6 gigawatts of power.🍃 Vattenfall plans to use its share of the power to supply German customers with clean electricity, while BASF will power its chemical production sites across Europe, especially in Ludwigshafen. This move is part of BASF's plan to cut emissions by 25% by 2030. Vattenfall's CEO, Anna Borg, sees this partnership as vital for Europe's energy shift and is thrilled to deepen ties with BASF.The Nordlicht wind farms are expected to start construction in 2026 and be fully operational by 2028, providing enough power for 1.6 million German households. 🌬️ Exciting things happening in renewable energy sector! 💚 The Moray West Offshore Wind Farm is set to make a big impact. With "Power Boost," each turbine can generate up to 14.7 MW output. Developed by Ocean Winds, this 882 MW wind farm is a game-changer.🔧 Siemens Gamesa is managing pre-assembly for the 60 turbines and manufacturing all 180 B108 blades in Hull. The facility, doubled in size, employs over 1,000 people and is vital for blade production.🌟 Once installed, the 108-meter blades will be the UK's longest, built to withstand tough offshore conditions.🍃 Wind turbine installation at Moray West starts this April. Darren Davidson, VP of Siemens Energy UK&I and Siemens Gamesa UK, praises the team's efforts. Moray West will push the UK closer to its offshore wind targets.🛳️ Siemens Gamesa is marshalling turbine components at the Port of Nigg, with Wind Orca handling installations. Our very own Search Director, Ally Bliss was invited to attend the annual SSMS Network Seminar held by De Haagse Hogeschool / The Hague University of Applied Sciences in Oberammergau, Germany at the NATO Recreation Center last week. During this seminar, around 30 international leaders within Industrial Safety, Public Safety, and National Security spent 2 full days discussing how to better prepare university students for "real world" safety and security professions. Shirley Parsons thoroughly enjoys working with this local university to help their Safety Security Management Studies students graduate feeling prepared for their new careers in safety. #hse #safetystudies
