Chapter Text
Severus moved around the shop, he was not sure what he should do. He wanted to be the good husband and take time off when little Sebastian was born but then at the same time he had no other competent brewer to watch over the shop and with how the sales were going he knew that shutting the shop down for any period of time was not feasible. The ringing of the doorbell as well as the deep voice that radiated through the store he knew that he had a visitor.
“Sev. The minister of magic is here” Cal stated as she waved her hand and the front door locked
“Kingsley” Severus stated
“Hello Severus, I do not come baring good news” Kingsley stated
“Of course you do not. What is it now?” Severus said leaning against one of the tables
“The member the ministry had in custody managed to get out of the aurors grasp, he is once again on the run” Kingsley stated
“You need better aurors” Severus said shaking his head
“I have not been able to fill that spot that Harry and Ron left” Kingsley stated shaking his head
“That is unfortunate, do you believe they will come for me?” Severus asked crossing his arms
“Yes, I believe they will. The auror protection will be doubled up until they are caught” Kingsley stated
“Fine. I will kill them Kingsley” Severus stated
“As will I. If they come near Severus, Hermione or Rose I will kill them” Cal said pushing off the door frame
“That will not be necessary” Kingsley stated
“I have a feeling it will be. The incompetence in this whole issue has been extraordinary” Cal said shaking her head
“I agree, but my hands are tied. If I put it out into public knowledge, I know that there will be riots and vigilantes who will go after Severus themselves to stop all of this” Kingsley explained
“This is a mess that you have gotten yourself into, but I do agree with Cal. If they come after those who I love I will kill them” Severus said sternly
“Then let us not have that happen. Good day to you” Kingsley stated nodding towards him
“You can open the shop back up” Severus said gently as Kingsley walked out
“Is Hermione in danger?” Cal asked worried
“Yes and no. As long as the Aurors stay where they are she will be fine, these people cannot get through my wards at home. And they will not attack her at the shop, and it is her last day of work anyways” Severus said shrugging
“It is hard to believe she is due any day” Cal said shaking her head
“I can’t believe she decided to work all the way up until her due date” Severus said shaking his head as well
“She is stubborn but we love her for that” Cal said before she could stop herself
“Ah I was wondering who would say it first” Severus said looking at her smiling
“Please don’t tell her” Cal stated
“I would not, those are your words to tell her. But she will not be opposed to them if you tell her them” Severus said kindly
“I love you as well Severus, just in a different way” Cal said coming towards him and placing her hand on his cheek
“I love you as well. You have taken a hold of our lives, I am glad you agreed to that dinner those months ago” Severus said chuckling
“I am glad I agreed, it was funny to see you walk into the teacher’s lounge. I knew who you were and then you were introduced as Tobias. I wondered how long it would take you to realize I was a witch” Cal said leaning again the other table
“I did not realize until you almost called me Severus” Severus said chuckling
“I was worried that I would be breaking the statute of secrecy to find out you already did” Cal said shaking her head
“I did not expect to have this happen from that simple dinner” Severus explained
“No? What did you expect?” Cal inquired
“Hermione wanted to sleep with a women before she had Sebastian, I agreed because I wanted her to try everything like I have. Then I got hurt and you cared for her so quickly and so thoroughly, that was when I knew that you would not be leaving and that our hearts grew bigger. We never wanted you to leave” Severus said smiling
“I knew I was f*cked that first night, I felt something I had long thought gone. So I thank you” Cal said smiling
Severus smiled at the women in front of him as she turned and returned to the front counter, time would tell how this would work out but he knew deep inside she would be with them till they died.
Hermione ran around the shop, she hated knowing that she would not be any where near it in the next few months while Sebastian was still young. She trusted her worker but she was still worried, she had double and triple checked her numbers for her books. Before making sure she had all the preorders for the books that were coming out. She paced back and forth as she kept going through her mind the things that she had done and needed to do.
“Mommy?” Rose called out as Molly stepped through
“Hey baby. Is it that time already?” Hermione asked
“It is. You are on maternity leave now” Molly said smiling
“Just a couple more things then I will be. You can go Molly, thank you for everything” Hermione said smiling
“Okay, as soon as he starts to come let me know and I will take Rose for a few days so you can get settled” Molly stated pointing her finger at her
“Of course” Hermione said smiling
“Mommy?” Rose asked looking up
“Yes sweetie?” Hermione said as she walked with her to the backroom
“Daddy and Momma coming for lunch?” Rose asked hopefully
“I am not sure, let me ask. Expecto Patronum” Hermione called out as her otter ran out
Cal was startled as she watched the patronus come into view, as it spoke she smiled hearing Hermione’s voice. Looking back she found Severus listening as well a shake of his head told her he would not be coming.
“Can you do your patronus? Mine may scare them” Cal stated
“Why? Is it a bear or something Canadian?” Severus said chuckling
“Something like that, I will go for lunch with them though if you can tell her that” Cal said smiling
“Will do” Severus stated as a large raven escaped his wand
A couple patronus’s back and forth they came to a decision that Cal would pick up lunch for them and then meet them a the bookshop. Looking at the time she knew she had another half an hour before she needed to grab food. Sitting back down at the front desk she began writing, this time she was going to work on a new history book for Canada but specializing in the first magical settlers in Canada.
Severus watched as Cal wrote, her book was a hit in the UK and in Canada and he wondered what she was working on now. He enjoyed having the ability to go back and forth with her in regards to writing, he could do that with Hermione but with her writing more for children there were times it was hard to fully format it with her, so instead he spoke with Cal as he knew she could format his writing without a second thought. He wished he could go for lunch but if Hermione had sent a patronus even ten minutes before he would not have started the potion he was working on, it was a specialty order and it was costly and he did not wish to have to restart it.
