Monster Hunter Rise Crown Hunting Guide (2024)

by DK 3 Comments

This guide explains the best crown farming methods in Monster Hunter Rise for Miniature Crowns and Gold Crowns.

In Monster Hunter Rise, monsters can spawn in different sizes. If a monster you hunted was especially small or big, it will award you a gold crown for the monster. Apart from 3 of the story related bosses each monster can grant you a Small Gold Crown and a Large Gold crown. Earning all of them will grant you 2 trophies / achievements – Mini Crown Plaque and Gold Crown Plaque. Should a monster miss the Big Gold Crown just by a bit, you might also receive a Silver Crown, which does not count for any trophies / achievements. The monsters will appearphysically smaller or bigger.

Gold Crown Hunting Tips

  • Should I measure the monsters or just slay all of them? – Really up to you. You can just kill every monster if you want since it would mean progress towards killing 1000 monsters in total. However…. you might get very unlucky with a monster and just wait an orbital amount of time on it. You need to kill each monster 10 times for a room decoration related to another trophy Monster Hunter Rise Crown Hunting Guide (1)Sturdy Padlock soit’s suggested killing each monster 10 times without measuring the size and only then start caring about the measurements.
  • How do I measure a monster? – There are multiple methods to measure the size of a monster. You can either put a monster to sleep and place a Large Barrel Bomb next to it, remember a spot of the monster in relation to the size of the Bomb and should it not award you a crown, you make sure the spot you remembered is either lower or higher compared to the bomb. For non-Elder Dragons and Apexes you can also use Shock Traps and stand next to the monster for size comparison. Just make sure you always measure the monsters in a flat area, otherwise the size may mislead by the monster laying in a weird angle.
  • Are there event quests for guaranteed crowns? – Yes, they will be mentioned below for each monster individually. However, some event quests guarantee a crown but the monsters are dealing double damage in those missions. They might even one-shot you if you are not prepared.
  • How high is the chance for a crown? – Quests with the highest chance for a crown will be mentioned for each monster individually with the percentage of a chance for the crowns.
  • Do I need to finish a Quest for a crown to count? – No. You can just kill the monster you need in a multi-monster quest and leave. Just make sure to choose RETURN FROM QUEST and not ABANDON QUEST. Abandoning Quests is used for measuring monsters only, since abandoning gives you back the stuff you used (Bombs, Traps, etc.)
  • Can I obtain crowns in Rampage Mode? – No. Rampage monsters have scripted sizes and only the final boss counts toward monster kill progression.
  • Should I wait for Sunbreak DLC? – Sunbreak in general has higher Chances for Crowns – 6% for a small one and 10% for a big one and also adds some event quests for the main game monsters. If you are in no rush, waiting for Sunbreak DLC might help you a bit.
