In this recently publishied paper at IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, we explore the possibility of controlling speed of a double-inverter-fed induction machine without using any current sensor or frame orientation, just like V/F control of standard induction motors. Induction-Based Position Sensor Interface DevicesIntended for use in vehicle x-by-wire steering and throttle/accelerator/brake pedal mechanisms, the MLX90513 inductive sensor interface IC from Melexis is capable of attaining high degrees of positioning accuracy. Making induction-based position sensing more accessible, and broadening its potential usage, this device delivers ±0.1% full-scale accuracy in linear arrangements (up to 30cm in length) and ±0.36° accuracy in rotary configurations (over a complete 360° range).
