  • Nuts: I have used almonds and cashews which are most commonly used in Indian sweets. But for a variation, you can add other nuts like walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts.
  • Dates: I have used California Medjool dates which are bigger in size compared to sticky dates available in India.
  • Water: Since my dates are not that sticky and moist, I have added little. But you may or may not need any. It depends on how moist your dates are.
  • Ghee: That’s what most commonly used in our Indian desserts. But if looking for a vegan option then use coconut oil.

NOTE: Here I am using Indian style Preethi brand mixer grinder. This recipe would not work in Blendtec or Vitamix type of blender. If you don’t have an Indian style grinder then you should use a food processor.

1) Take almonds and cashews in the jar.

2) Pulse it to grind coarse powder.

3) Now add dates, raisins.

4) Also, add dry coconut.

💭 Tips For Dry Fruits Modak Recipe

  • You can shape into the ladoo. It is good for growing kids and you can serve them as an after school snack.
  • There is another version of dry fruits modak where the outer layer is made from rice flour and stuffing is made from nuts and dried fruits. The procedure to make an outer layer, shaping and steaming are the same as ukadiche modak.
